We faced a client request for an automotive adjuster made from PP+EPDM-TD20 composite material, featuring a delicate textured surface, with dimensions of 161X203X28mm and a wall thickness of 2.5mm. The most critical demands were its exacting aesthetic surface requirements, with a flash tolerance strictly controlled within 0.03mm, and despite numerous internal ribs, the appearance surface had to be completely free of stress marks. This was a true challenge, and one we eagerly embraced!
Our Precision Mold Solution: Success Through Meticulous Detail

To prevent internal ribs from causing stress marks on the exterior surface during injection molding, we precisely modified the internal rib width to 1/3 of the product's wall thickness during the mold design phase. This crucial adjustment effectively dispersed shrinkage stress, ensuring a flawless appearance for the final product.
A flash tolerance of 0.03mm is an extremely challenging target. We utilized advanced high-speed machining for the fine finishing of the mold's front and rear core and cavity, coupled with on-machine automatic inspection technology. This allowed us to control the machining tolerance of the mold's contour to an astounding 0.01mm or less. This ensures that the final product's step difference tolerance is strictly below 0.03mm, achieving a top-tier industry standard.
We understand that color difference is a major concern for automotive interior parts. Before mold manufacturing, we conducted a detailed mold flow analysisto simulate the flow behavior of PP+EPDM-TD20 material in the 1+1 cavity mold. By precisely predicting and optimizing the gate location and runner system, we ensured balanced melt filling and consistent cavity temperatures, fundamentally eliminating product color variation issues and strictly adhering to the client's high standards.
